There is a lot to discover in Sweden’s national parks. You’ll find activities and sights that suit visitors of all ages. 

Whether you want to walk along a marked trail, explore unique landscapes or pause at a viewpoint for a break, the parks offer plenty of ways for you to enjoy nature – from easy walks to scenic lookouts and deeper adventures into the wilderness. 

Activities and sights in the national park

The birdlife in Nämdöskärgården National Park is rich, especially in spring. Here you may see both seabirds and birds of prey. The majestic havsörn is quite common in the park. One example of a good birdwatching spot is Norrudden on Långviksskär.

The islands in the national park are full of beautiful bathing cliffs. Here and there you will also find small sandy beaches. To reach most bathing spots, you need your own boat or kayak. On Bullerö you will find the beach Zarahs strand, which you can reach by tour boat. On Bullerö there is also a sauna that is open to everyone.

On Bullerö, where the national park’s main entrance is located, many hiking trails start. The trail Brunos slinga takes you on a historical walk, the trail Bullerö runt takes you around the whole island, and the trail Sydudden runt takes you to the southern parts of the island.

On Bullerö you will also find the artist Bruno Liljefors’ old hunting cabin. The cabin houses an exhibition about Nämdöskärgården National Park, the conditions of the Baltic Sea, and the wildlife above and below the surface. On the island you will also find Brunos dämme, an artificial pond that Bruno Liljefors had constructed to attract birds to study and paint.

The kummel on Söderö is the highest point in the national park. A kummel is a navigational cairn made of stones. The site is 20 metres above sea level and offers views across almost the entire national park.
