About Norra Kvill National Park

Fallen trunks, massive boulders and towering trees give the area a wilderness feel, even if on a smaller scale. In the park you’ll find two forest lakes, Stora and Lilla Idgölen, with water lilies and buckbean. Look forward to an exciting walk among moss‑covered boulders and enchanted forest pools, and enjoy the beautiful view from the national park’s highest point, Idhöjden.

Much of Norra Kvill consists of forest that is largely untouched and of uniquely high quality for southern Sweden, with great natural values. Here you will find two forest lakes, Stora Idgölen and Lilla Idgölen, with water lilies and bogbean. You can look forward to an exciting walk among moss‑covered boulders and mystical tarns as you make your way up to the beautiful viewpoint at the national park’s highest point, Idhöjden.

Norra Kvill is not a primeval forest, but it feels ancient and wild as it has stood undisturbed for more than 150 years. Here there are pines more than 350 years old and giant spruces measuring 2.5 metres in circumference and 35 metres tall.

Some of the pines in the area are more than 350 years old.
