Blå Jungfrun National Park

Visit the park

Here you’ll find directions, information about local services, and other useful details to help you prepare for your visit to Blå Jungfrun National Park.

Blå Jungfrun is a rocky island, which provides fantastic nature experiences – but it also means that some parts of the trails can be steep, stony and at times strenuous. Disembarkation also takes place directly onto the rocks and can be challenging. For visitors with reduced mobility, it can therefore be difficult to fully experience the island’s environments.

Accessibility

The terrain on Blå Jungfrun is hilly with large differences in elevation from all entrances. There are prepared boardwalks and handrails on the island. The trails are marked in the terrain in red and blue.

The walk is demanding, and it is recommended to use boots or sturdy shoes. The blue trail around the summit is particularly demanding.

Good to know before your visit

There are no restaurants or shops on Blå Jungfrun, so you need to bring food, water and anything else you may need during your visit.

Please note that large parts of the island offer no shade. Blå Jungfrun can be very exposed to weather and wind, and the rocks become slippery when it rains.

When the ferry to Gotland passes through the strait near Blå Jungfrun, strong wake waves can occur. Keep your distance from the shoreline, as there is a risk of being pulled into the water.
